Community Centre Phase 2 Official Opening

Phase 1 of the Community Centre has been in use since it was opened by Minister Michael Ring TD in November 2013. Now, four years later, we are pleased to announce that Phase 2 will be officially opened by An Taoiseach Mr Leo Varadkar TD on Sunday 5th November at 11:30am. KILANERIN COMMUNITY FILMMAKING PROJECT

Kilanerin Ballyfad Community Development Association is looking for participants for its community filmmaking project this summer. A documentary or docu-drama about the notorious Hunter Gowan II will be made during the project, with the film focusing on some of the numerous ghost stories about the infamous yeoman, rather than the actual events of the time. Over the last two hundred years, stories about Hunter Gowan have crossed over into myth and legend, and it’s this larger than life character that will be explored. 1916 Commemoration

Old Kilnenor Historical Society is holding a 1916 Commemoration to remember the local involvement in the Rising, including; Paddy Boland (Pallas), Mick Kilty (Custodium) & John O’Donohoe (Knockbrack). The Ceremony will take place in Pallas on Sunday, 5th June, after a special Commemoration Mass at 11am mass in Sts Peter & Paul Church. Followed by entertainment and refreshments. Whist

First lady at last weeks whist was won by Donal Kavanagh, second lady was Sadie Mordaunt, and half time lady was Ann Cowman. First gent was Marie Cushe, second gent was Noel Carter, and half time gent was shared by Ross Bailey and Peg Byrne. Raffle winners on the night were Donal Kavanagh, Eilish Murphy and Breda O'Connor. Whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30pm.  Everybody associated with Kilanerin Whist extend sympathy to Alice and the Gibney Family on the death last week of our good friend Terry.Read more …
